2. Saiz batu ladung boleh menentukan jarak baling. Tetapi pastikan batu yang digunakan dapat ditampung oleh hujung joran ketika lontaran dibuat. Jika tidak, hujung joran mudah patah ketika permulaan lontaran. Saiz batu juga boleh ditentukan melalui keadaan pasang surut serta permukaan. Bermula nombor 8 hingga 12 adalah saiz yang lumrah digunakan pemancing pantai. Pilih batu jenis lonjong memanjang supaya ia kurang memberi rintangan angin dan arus.
3. Perambut mulakan dengan 20 hingga 60 paun bergantung kepada kekuatan tali utama, saiz mata kail, kapasiti kekili dan kekuatan joran yang digunakan. Pilih warna cerah dengan panjang perambut antara 1 hingga 2 kaki. Kalau memancing ikan bebulus di pantai perambut setengah kaki dengan kekuatan 12 paun amat sesuai.

5. Waktu terbaik ialah ketika air pasang penuh. Ketika itu, ikan akan merapat ke pantai. Pada sebelah malam pula, ikan lebih efektif daripada siang. Secara ringkas waktu paling sesuai ialah lewat petang hingga sebelum fajar. Terbaik ialah lepas solat Maghrib hingga sebelum habis waktu Subuh. Sebagai tambahan, menggunakan joran panjang tidak kurang 10 kaki (3.5 meter) adalah satu kelebihan.
